Beach Baby

So we've hit that time of year again, when the temp rises...and rises...and rises. Yesterday it was 38 degrees (celcius, for those playing at home), after much begging, my Mum agreed to come with me to the beach. Nikki was off at a friends house -swimming in their pool. Scott was off at the beach himself. So ended up arriving at Brighton (Dendy street) some time after 5pm. The wind had picked up down by the bay, so it was much cooler by then. We hit the water, which had become quite wavy, and was SO warm. -It was however pretty murky and dirty....but still did the trick. We ended up staying till 7pm, -once I turned pruny, that was it.
I had a great time. I love the ocean, and am such a water baby. I guess it comes from spending so much time by the water growing up. -As did my parents.
I much prefer the bay beaches to the surf beaches. I always wind up with bruises when I go to the surf beaches.

Hopefully we will make a few trips back over summer.

oooooo!
Friday night we also went to my cousin Marcus's wedding/marriage celebration/party...thingy. It was actually quite fun, and the food was pretty good...but we still made a stop at Macca's on the way home. The Finnish folk were nice...and interesting to say the least! lol.

My Christmas was also pretty good. I ended up with some cool pressies. I just wish there wasn't so much dramarama. Oh well.

Bring on 2008!!!!

Bored!

It's still 2 weeks till Christmas, and I still have months of holidays left before Uni starts up again.

I'm already really bored! I'm going to start painting the front end of the house soon...I hate feeling idle. I need to be doing something. I've been watching dvds, but I tend to find I need to be doing something else as well during that time. Sometimes I play solitaire, or read the paper, other times I just sorta roam about doing odd cleaning here and there.

Today is the 12th and I totally forgot about it till 4pm, but I went and found the camera and have taken my pics for today. I will post them tomorrow morning.

I am my sister's taxi-driver!

Firstly I want to make the comment that apparently I need new underwear, because when washed and sorted ended up in my sister's room....and she wore it. How rude!

Anyways....
yesterday I had to take my sister, her friend Charlotte, and two boys from their class to Chadstone to go bowling. Apparently it wasn't really a 'date' thing...but still...
So while they bowled, I did a little shopping -with a few check in's every now and then. The drive home was quite noisy, and when we got back here it got even worse. By the end of the day I had quite a headache. But at least the kids (12 is still a kid if you ask me) were pretty well behaved, and did what I told them too, when necessary. I'll just say one thing......kids are weird! They kept saying these weird things all the time.

I will do it again if I must....but my sis is gonna have to start being real nice to me!

A Whole Load of Stuff!

Ages ago I posted about this quote I had written down on a post it..."Okay you don't drive the baby." I had no idea where it was from. Ness sent me an email recently, and it ended up being from Studio 60! And when I was at her place on Friday night we watched the scene it was from...and it didn't seem so memorable...but I guess it was just weird at the time! lol

Speaking of going to Ness', I actually drove down there in Mum's car. It was a pretty easy drive, even though it was busy cause of peak hour. I know the way really well too.
I've been driving around a bit now. I've driven "Scott's" car a few times too, and finally got Nikki to come with me.

So today I finally got my copy of the letter my doctors at the RCH sent to the people at Peter Mac, and it was weird and also interesting. lol. A whole lotta medical speak...of which I could understand about half to three quaters of. Of course there were words that I just recognised from all my medical tv shows...but had no idea of what they actually meant! haha!
But at least I know that I have been taken care of and will be having check ups in the future.

I also got one of my essays back today. I got a credit, which isn't bad seeing as it was History of Ideas which I hardly understood 'cept for the evolution part. He said my essay was "too fatalistic". Geeez louise! Well the topic was transhumanism....and all that cryogenics crap and whatever! Anyhoo....
At least I know I've passed the subject. I've still got 2 more things to come back. And I think results come out soon too.

Last night I also went to see Nikki in her school concert. For some silly reason she didn't try out for a speaking part, but what she did was good anyways. The kids that were the main mains were really good. But people that are not really fond of little kids would really really hate it. I loved it, the little ones were so cute I could have eaten them up! -It did make me miss my old dancing/performing days......

oooo I went shopping yesterday and ended up buying the 2 things that I didn't get but realy wanted for my birthday. I used some birthday money to buy a new pair of thongs, hot pink Havaianas, and almost all the money my Grandparents gave me to buy a silver bracelet from Tiffany & co. It's so purdy..and goes with almost everything.....'cept my daggy at home casuals.

Not much else planned yet. I've got 3 hours and 15 minutes of work this weekend....which is better than nothing. Luckily I am earning some money in interest on my bank accounts.

Happy Birthday

So yesterday was my birthday. Didn't turn out too fabulous. I didn't get the cake I wanted, didn't get what I wanted, but that's okay. My parents suck at presents. My mum bought be jamies the other week, and forgot to give them to me yesterday...I still don't think she has remembered.
My mum has no idea what sort of things I'd really like, and usually ends up getting little stuff that's kinda useless and takes up space. Occasionally they get me nice things.
Well....my dad never gets me anything actually...I bet he doesn't even know what it is they are giving me. But not that it really matters anyways.

I also have a cold this week. So my hearing and breathing are all messed up. Which is no fun at all. I didn't feel like going out to dinner, so we just ordered pizza from a place a little bit fancier than where we normally go. The pizzas were huge!
Mum forgot about a cake...as usual, so she got a mud cake from safeways...it was okay I guess. It tasted good at least.
My Grandparents came over in the arvo, and gave me some money for my birthday. I went and put it in the bank today. I think I'm probably going to buy some nice jewellery with it.

I also have finally gone for a drive by myself. I drove over to Jacinta's on Tuesday for a movie day. Then I drove up to the bank today in Scott's car. -I hate his car...it's dirty, and he doesn't stupid things to it that make it complicated to drive.....who puts on a wheel lock?! ...AND one of those other weird wheel locks. -No one's gonna steal the car!!!
Oh well.

I can drive, I can drive, I can drive!

...okay, now I have 'we can fly...' from Peter Pan in my head. lol

But today I finally went for my drivers test, and got my P's! yay! I had a great instructor who taught me how to do everything...much much better than the one I had way back when I first started driving.
Today was raining, but while I was doing the test, it stopped. lol. I felt the test went really quick, what was annoying was that we didn't go along any of the places that we'd normally practiced on. But it was all good. He made my do a reverse paralell park - which was the thing I was most worried about. But I must have done it okay, because I didn't loose any marks for it. :D I only lost 3 marks total, and they were unrelated to that. So now I have my shiny new P's...but I haven't gotten to take them out for a spin yet. So it doesn't really feel real yet.

While I'm very happy about it, I'm in just such a depressive mood this week. My stupid bed that was coming..arrived, but they gave us the wrong bloody slats and after 2 days of calling them, we finally found out that they have no idea where the proper slats are, and so I will have to wait 6 weeks for them to arrive from the overseas supplier! grrrrr. So at the moment I am sleeping on my old mattress on the floor.
Next week is also my 22nd birthday, I have no issue with the number, I'm just at the whole birthday depression stage I think. Everything is so focussed on Christmas, that it sorta feels like the birthday isn't really there. Plus my sister is driving me crazy, and I appear to have no job..not because they let me go, but because they are just not giving any shifts out. (and it appears its not just me...)
My mum's family decided to organise a Kriss Kringle this year, but instead of including everyone, they just included the parent generation, being my mum, her brother and their spouses. Which means that I still won't be getting a present. Which was part of the point in the first place, that everyone gets a present instead of just my sister, and my grandparents. Oh well. I guess I could always find my own Christmas thing to go to...or hang out longer with my cousins at my dad's family thing.

I'm sure I'll feel happier tomorrow.

Okay you don't drive the baby!

So while I was cleaning up my desk in my bedroom today, I found this post-it note with the phrase "Okay you don't drive the baby" written on it. Now I have no idea why I wrote this down. But I find it a very funny note. I'm guessing it was from a dream I had at some point. But anyways, I really liked it. No idea why you would want to drive the baby...but hey. Dreams are weird.

So.

Don't drive the baby!

Looking Pretty!

Today I had my first ever manicure and pedicure. And my hands and feet feel and look so purdy! I have french tips on my nails, it looks cool yet strange. lol
My mum decided for us girls to get them done for my cousin Ben's wedding tomorrow.

I'm looking forwards to getting dressed up, and wearing my dressy, yet not overly formal dress. And I'm going to curl my hair up for a change. It's supposed to be cold and possibly raining though, which isn't good.

Today I had 3 assignments due. I was working on the essay for Media till 2:30ish, and then went to hand them all in around 3:30pm. The essay is pretty bad...but I tried my best and that's all you can do. The other assignments I finished yesterday. It's a huge relief having handed them in. A definate weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I have to edit my story for writing fiction and hand it in by 5pm Monday, but that's much easier. It's all my own imagination. :D
Then I have my last essay due next Thursday for History of Ideas. Then I'm done with assignments. I have one exam, for Media in Australia, which is on the 14th. I can't wait till that's all overwith!

All to report :D

Outings

Last night (Thursday), I went to see Phantom of the Opera with Brett and Ness. Brett ended up taking us along for free, which was EXTREMELY nice of him. The show was AWESOME. I love all stage and musical shows. It makes the preformer blood in me rush to my head...or something. I dunno, but it's like an adrenaline (spelling?) boost when I see them.
Everyone was great in it, and since I only knew bits and pieces of the story and have never seen the movie version, it was great to have that sort of Phantom virgin experiance. I didn't know what was coming so it was extra exciting and more 'real'.
It also really makes me miss my dancing. I haven't danced since early 2002..but I do like to dance in my room, or the kitchen or the lounge room, when I get a chance. But it's not the same as getting costumes and performing on stage.

This arvo I worked...which was odd, I was looking forward to it and in a way felt a little sad to be going home after only 3 hours. I think not working is getting to me. I know I need to start looking for a new job where they actually use me and give me shifts. But I do like having a little extra free time to work on my uni stuff. Got 3 things due next Friday. Ouch!

Ben and Janelle's wedding is next weekend. Looking forward to that. I'm going to curl my hair for it. I will do a test run of my hair before then though. I want to look nice, a little more grown up if i can too. Sometimes I really hate looking like a teenager. I bet if I was taller they would think I'm older. Sigh. Oh well. Don't get me started on my height, we could be here all week! haha!

Only 1 more week of classes left, yay! I am still working towards my driving test. I just hope I don't get too nervous during the test. I probably will. I just hope I can do things properly. I really don't want to take the test twice.

Should probably go to bed soon. But I'm a little too wired to sleep. Maybe I'll go watch some telly.

Brrrrrrrr

Okay right now I am totally freezing! I don't know why exactly...I blame the new and not as cool as the old ones, rainbow paddlepop. lol.
The weather has been really back and forth lately. On the weekend it got to 31 degrees or something, which is very hot. Especially when it's been freezing other days.

I'm currently getting over a cold. Ick Ick Ick. It wouldn't be so bad, if I could only get rid of the coughing. The coughing makes it hard to sleep, and study and just do anything where I'm not talking. grr.

I finally got a shift at Safeway again. It's only 3 hours, on Friday arvo...but at least it's something. I'm very broke these days. I've still gotta pay off the rest of my bed, which should be coming in a few weeks...hopefully.

This really is sort of a mishmesh of posts. Only a week and a half left of Uni...Have to get started on my Media essay, and work more on my story for Writing Fiction. The MySpace assignment is going okay, but will need a few touch ups next week.
And my driving lesson on Monday went well, just need to keep practicing my parking. I'm sure the test will creep up on me quickly.

Like Ben's wedding. That's only a week and half away. I've got the shoes and dress, but I might try and get over to Chadstone this weekend to look for a little black cardi or something to wear over my shoulders, cause it might get chilly.

That's about all worth telling, 'cept for the very interesting, and not as easy as you might think game of Celebrity Heads at Ness' Saturday night. Some brains were just not working. Mine especially. lol

Comments and Trains That Don't Go

So today I had my Hazards test which is the first part of getting your P's. Luckily I passed! haha. I was so worried that I was getting everything wrong...cause you kinda just get used to clicking, and end up forgetting to actually think about things! But anyhoo. Yay. I passed with 74%.

Then I ventured off to Uni, since there was no point going home, only to have to leave again in 20 minutes or whatever. So I went to Starbucks and got me a Mocha frappechino, cause it was way too hot for regular coffee. I sat there for a while, then went over to the Library to make many many copies of my story for Writing Fiction. I had to workshop it today...which pretty much means people read and rag on your story. I understand the teachers intent when it comes to the activity...but in reality not everyone will like your story, or understand your story. And they put in their own ideas and in a sense can be really mean, even without knowing or meaning to be. Writing is such a subjective thing that in a way I really hate it as a class. While yes, the other people in the class are 'writers' too, they are still people with their own issues and ideas. So it's just really not that helpful or good for your self esteem to have other people analysing and disecting your work..especially when it's in such rough and early stages.
(gets down off soap box)

Then when I finally get to go home, the trains are stopped at Auburn station cause of some problem at Camberwel, so after waiting ages and ages and ages, I finally called Scott to come and get me. Auburn station is a really annoying place to be stranded. The Tram is ages away from there. Oh well. Hopefully they will be working properly tomorrow.

Feeling a little dim and bendy

I had these 2 really weird celebrity (my celebs, not like Angelina Jolie types) dreams last night. The first one involved Kate Walsh...doing something. -I don't remember that one at all really. But the 2nd one was about Lauren Graham. That one I totally remember. I was on the set of some movie with Lauren, and the whole first part of the dream played out as the story in the movie, or filming of the movie. Then the movie was done and we were heading home, or to the airport or something. -It was on location in like Turkey, or Russia or Romania or somewhere weird and far far away. But on the way home there was the most awesome sunset(or possibly sunrise) ever. It was also possible that we were not in a car, but on horses....I know my dreams are weird. I like that. lol
-I was actually waiting for the 3rd dream...things usually come in three's. -Maybe it would have if I hadn't had to get up so early. Stupid Uni. I love my classes this semester, but I really could use more sleep. -Oh well only a few more weeks till I'm back on holidays again.

The title of this post, is something I took from Grey's Anatomy. I'm halfway through season 3 in my dvds and loving it! I'd forgotten just how much I love that show! In one ep Meredith says she's "Dark and Twisty", in other words messed up. Now I myself have been feeling a bit funny these days, and not feeling the best. I wouldn't go as far to say I'm "Dark and Twisty", but definately dim and bendy. -Which is somewhere a little closer to the middle of the scale, the other pole being "Bright and shiny" (which I think was also part of the ep...).
My sister is still avoiding me, not talking to me, excluding me from all conversation. I know she's at the age, and is trying to figure out her place or whatever...but I just really miss her. My family is not at all very close. I've always been different and disconnected from my family, and my sister was my one link. She was my friend. She would watch movies with me, watch tv with me, get excited about the Sims. Nowdays she won't even talk to me, let alone go to the movies, or play a game. I really hope she moves through this phase soon, it's very lonely in this house for me at the moment. Especially since I don't have Toffee anymore.

-Well on that depressing note...
That's all for me tonight,

-Carlie

Catch Me Up

Been busy lately. Had holidays a little while ago, but just a week off Uni. I skipped the one class I was supposed to go to, to watch the Emmy's. I couldn't miss the Emmys! They were good.

Went to see Hairspray with mum on Saturday arvo. I loved it! I've been singing the songs all weekend! I think for the first time in ages, I actually want to buy a movie when it comes out. I'm gonna go get the soundtrack soonish.

Got assignments coming up. Presentations. I hate presentations. lol.

Not much else going on. -Not getting much work. No shifts this week OR last week.

Oh yeah. I ordered my new bed last week. But it's going to take a few weeks to arrive. doh!

My Grey's season 3 and Heroes dvds FINALLY arrived today. For some reason they took over a week longer to get here than Ness' and they supposedly shipped on the same day. *shrug*
I'm just over half way through season 2. -At least I have something to keep me busy till Ness has enough new eps of things to give me.

All By Myself

So my mum and Nikki have gone away this weekend. I was originally going to go, but my mum never actually makes concrete plans, so I organised my driving lesson for monday morning, the day they are coming back.
So it's just me, Dad and Scott home. Great fun. I've already have my first tiff with dad, over the washing of course. -My dad is so weird! He makes me SO mad sometimes.

I've been pretty much just watching dvds. I've almost finished Dawson's creek. I just have the double ep finale to go. I didn't feel like watching it at midnight last night, so I watched the first 2 eps of Grey's season 1. I can't wait to get to season 2!

So back to Uni I go tomorrow. Whoopee! not!
Oh well. I have a driving lesson in the morning. On my way to getting my licence!

Just another saturday

So today was such a great day, I woke up relaxed. With no pressure to do any work for Uni or even to go to work. A nice feeling. - I played the sims2 most of the day. lol

In the arvo, I went to Chadstone with my mum. I haven't been there in weeks and they have changed a lot around. -It was odd. So when we were coming in, we always park at David Jones, there was this couple totally sucking face...next to the fridges. I mean to each their own...but fridges? Really?! hehe.

I ended up finding some new shoes, which my mum paid for. Which was nice of her. I also bought 2 new retro tees from Jay Jay's. -My Little Pony, and Dumbo. lol. -They didn't have any of the 'Made in the 80's' ones in my size :(

On the way out, I bought a doona cover for my new bed (whenever I end up getting it). The one I liked was on sale, so I thought I'd better get it while it was gonna save me some moola! Now all that's left is the bed itself. -Which of course is the most expensive thing.

My dad was being a total jerk tonight, as usual...but the more it happens, the more it tends to bug me. Which is odd actually. You'd think that I'd get used to it. oh well.

I need a holiday. Europe would be nice! ...or the East Coast of the US. -Either way I can't really afford it right now, and have noone to go with. But hopefully soon!

I found a new handy dandy funky tool for blogs. So now I have a poll. It's a useless poll....but I couldn't think of anything too fantabulous!

So yes. Take the poll if you like.

TV helps make friends!

Today I had my History of Ideas lecture and tute. It's the one tute Jacinta and I are in together. Today we were chatting to this girl who is in the tute/lect with us, and who is also in Jacinta's media class. Anyways..we chatted most of the day, and sat with her in both rooms. And while waiting to go into the tute, she noticed my Crossing Jordan t-shirt that I was wearing today. And of course she's a fan! It's so much fun to wear shirts and find people with similar interests. I said I'd send her my CJ fanfiction, as she was annoyed with the lack of Jordan and Woody happily ever after - as was I!

It's nice to meet new people. :)

Yak Yak Yak

Once more, killing time between classes. Doing a selection of uni and non-uni related things. Got an assigment due next week, it's a writing piece. It's practically done, just needs some cleanup editing really. I also have a minor essay due in 2 weeks. So I am starting to collect books...or at least trying to pick a topic to write about!
Last night I was just watching eps of Dawson's Creek and very early Friends. -One comment I have, or observation really (which I suppose should really be on my other blog), was that the Friends episode was the pilot and the 3 after that. Something I noticed in the pilot was that almost all the dialogue was JOKES. Which from just having finished season 10 a week or so ago, seemed very strange. Everytime someone said anything, they said it as a joke..and then that joke was one up-ed. It was funny to listen to the audience (not sure if there was an actual audience or just a laugh track...I'd assume there'd be an audience for pilot...but you know what they say :P) to see how much they laughed, and what they laughed at, and how some jokes got louder laughs than others.
I think it's the damm media student coming out in me.

By the way, I am totally obsessed with the whole Australia getting TIVO thing. I just hope it ends up being worth getting by the time we get it. -Like will it work with foxtel? or will it not cost an arm and a leg to get!...and most importantly will it NOT stuff up! ...but I do like the idea that you can set it to start recording a show 5-10minutes before it's supposed to start. -That's a very handy feature. ...plus then you can tape all the episodes you want to a tape or dvd...meaning less space wasted, less tapes wasted, and you can cut out the ads too!

I guess today's post has taken a media focussed turn...but that's what happens when I post on a Media class day!

Walking Advertisement

Today it was around 25 degrees. Beautiful for an August day in Melbourne. Perfect T-shirt weather. I was going to wear one of my Wonder Woman tees, but I was wearing my low jeans, so I changed into my Heroes t-shirt that says "Save the Cheerleader...save the world." After a while, one of the guys in my writing fiction class asked me about it. It seems that mostly guys know Heroes. -Interesting. lol.
I was slightly freaked when I had to explain what I meant about all the shows coming back, meaning starting new seasons at the end of September. Sometimes I really forget that not everyone thinks the same way I do! ...I know a lot of people who are thankful for that one!

Updated

So I've been playing around with the layout and colorsceme (so not the correct spelling...but I don't care) for the blog. I've settled on something festive and mixed of many of the colors I like. -sometimes change is good. But mostly it's bad. lol.

Filling Time

Here I am at Uni. I was up at 7am this morning, it was only 3 degrees when I got up. -I was FREEZING! I am now filling time in between my Media in Australia lecture and tute. I just finished a reading summary for one of my other classes. I still have 2 more to go before tomorrow. -Hopefully I will get through them tonight.
Right now I'm in the basement of the library, where there are people everywhere doing all sorts of things in this huge computer lab. There was music playing before, and weird sounds that people are listening to on the net.
There is a window right behind the computer, and I can see a very blue sky outside..it's warm in here, but I wonder how cold it is out there. -I'll find out in a few, cause I am meeting up with Jacinta for lunch.

I totally forgot about Chad's 12 of 12 this month. Ness asked me if I had done it Sunday night, but I guess I spaced this month. oh well. I'll make an effort to remember next month.

I'm addicted to Youtube at the moment, but probably not for the reason that many people are. -I couldn't care less for all the random vids of crazy kitties or stupid people doing weird things. I'm addicted to watching all the talk show interviews of people from my tv shows. Particularly Grey's and Gilmore Girls. I've also been watching the official music vids for Grey's too. -I just finished season 1 last week, and now I really really want season 2..and also for season 4 to start. But I need to save my money and wait until things become cheap. Cause there are WAY too many dvds that I want coming out leading up to Christmas.

I'll be good.

Doh!

So last week was my first week back at Uni. Some of it was good, some was really crappy. But that was to be expected. lol.
I have a 4-day week this semester, which is a day more than last semester. Mondays I do get to start way late in the day though, not till 12:30pm, so I get to sleep in and relax/watch some telly in the morning. Tuesdays and Wednesdays kinda suck, I have to get up around 7am, cause it's easier to go with my mum in the morning, than leave at the same time and walk to the station. I finish at 2 on Tuesdays and 12 on Wednesdays. Thursdays I'm there from 10:30-2.
I have Tuesday mornings with Kelly and Jacinta, and Thursdays with Jacinta, and Kelly for the lecture in the morning. Monday's is writing Fiction, which looks a little scary, but cool. I think my thursdays are going to be the slightly boring days. I will probably need coffee Tues-Thurs.

In other news, I am hoping to get my new bed soon. I know what I want, I just need to pull the money together and go to buy it!
OOo speaking of buying things, my dad got his new car a few weeks ago, it's quite shiny. Mum's is still coming.
No holiday plans. -Just going for my licence...whenver I book in for that. I've had 2 lessons so far. It's looking good. I hope! haha.

Anyhoo...I should probably get to some of my reading...grrr.
Toodles

New Hair

On Saturday I went to the hairdressers and finally got my hair done..for the first time since December last year. Instead of getting blond foils, like normal. I finally had it dyed brown like I had been planning on doing for ages!

It's dark, but not so much anymore, it's a now more a medium brown. I like it a lot. It looks pretty natural, and also it's so nice to have my hair all one color. A few weeks ago I found a strand in my hair that was 1 third light brown (natural), 1 third blond, and 1 third dark red. It was very weird. But anyways, so now I have very chocolately brown hair. It's weird. It's different. But it rocks. lol
