Last Saturday night Ness and I went to see A Chorus Line at Her Majesty's Theatre. I had fairly low expectations, which was good because it is not a big flashy musical. It is simple, but touching, with nice songs, some better than others. The cast was great, some very talented kids, and some older great characters. I thought the girl who played Diana was great.
But overall it does not have a big production value. It's a good show, with a good cast, but it's not as big and flashy, that I feel the need to go again...somehow like every other musical I've seen at that Theatre. I liked it a lot, but definitely not feeling the need to go again.

SAG AWARDS
Once again I was watching these late because I am working. Started with the Red Carpet Monday night. I must say the dresses were FAR superior to those worn at the golden globes.
Fave dresses include: Emily Blunt, Emma Stone, Ariel Winter, Sofia Vergara, Kaley Cuoco.
Steve Carrell has to keep working and getting nominated for awards cause I'm going to miss him and Nancy on the red carpet, they are adorable!
As for the awards, it was all very very predictable. I was glad Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis won for The Help, and very excited for the cast to win! -Allison Janney doesn't NEED any more awards, but she will always deserve them! And look at little Chris Lowell from Private Practice all dressed up and getting awards!
Yay for Modern Family!!! I was glad Glee didn't win...I would have like The Good Wife to win for best drama though...they always get all dressed up and never win.
I've always loved the sags cause it's all actors all the time! Plus foxtel hasn't shown them in previous years, so I'm glad it's back on again this year!
Had to wait till tonight to watch the actual awards, but they're short and sweet so I'm just glad its not taking me all night like the Globes!
I found the presenters all a bit boring, with the exception of my SNL and NBC comedy peeps.
I'd forgotten about the 'In Memoriam'...seeing as they don't do it at the Golden Globes. Sooo many good actors gone, but not forgotten.
Overall it was good, but not that exciting. The people I wanted to win, mostly didn't...and I didn't really care THAT much anyways, none were MY people.
Next up is the Oscars, which I care even less about...'cept that Melissa McCarthy is nominated...which is AWESOME!!!

Golden Globes Wrap Up 2012
Red Carpet faves
Overall nothing blew me away.
Sarah Hyland looked Lovely.
Sofia Vergara's was an awesome color.
I liked Debra Messing's dress, but it could have used some color.
I guess Charlize Theron's dress was pretty too.
Mentionables -
Ariel Winter looking slightly more age appropriate, but still she maybe dresses a little too grown up.
Loved Sarah Paulson and Amanda Peet together again, and The Deschanel sister power couple!
It's an SNL party!!! Yay for my SNL peeps.
I love that some people are now huge stars, but I still remember way back to their early roles. It was feeling a little late 90's.
Worst Outfits
Sarah Michelle Geller....did someone throw paint at her...but I did LOVE the hair.
Piper Perabo's dress was interesting... Didn't love it. Too poofy.
Eek. Lea Michele...umm, didn't like it.
Best dressed guys
Mark Salling looks nice in a tux.
And Ashton Kutcher cleans up nice!!!! It's about time!
The Awards
I like Laura Dern, but I wanted my people from MY shows to win. I thought Zooey would win.
Gotta love Rob Lowe! And yay for Downton Abbey!
It sucked that I don't watch a single show that was up for best drama series...sad I used to watch them all back in the day. Damn Madmen for not being on last year.
Wait Missy Pyle is at the Globes?! Ohh she's in The Artist. Never mind. Stil seems wrong though.
Oh yeah that's what Sarah Paulson is in. Maybe I'll get to American Horror Story at some point.
Felicity Huffman and Bill Macy were hilarious, loved their little song.
Are we time traveling? Clare Danes and Jessica Lange...again?
So weird having Brian Benben at the globes. Would have been nice if Madeleine had won! She's awesome in Revenge!
aww yay Matt LeBlanc!
Ok it's still 2012, Bradley Cooper was not not around in the 90's.
Yay Octavia Spencer!!! I LOVED The Help!
Helen Mirren is SO awesome!!!
Yay Modern Family!!!! I know she can be annoying, but I find Sofia Vergara amusing!!! And how spiffy did the boys look in their tuxes!
Yeah...racist jokes right after showing off The Help aren't funny at all.
Yay Merryl!!!!!!! Hopefully I'll get to see The Iron Lady soon!

A New Year
Happy 2012! So far it is off to a good start. I'm working and have started the year debt free! I have also been able to save some money.
I had a quiet new years eve, spent it with the gang at Ness'. We went out for dinner which was nice. Had a few drinks and watched some tv before running around outside watching fireworks (and bogans).
I stayed at Ness' and we watched a few movies, and started Friday Night Lights. It's nice to be done with Everwood, it seemed to take over our hangout nights a little. So far FNL is good but nothing to make us crazy yet!
Been pretty quiet lately, it's been too hot on the weekends to do much. Last weekend I went to Chadstone with mum. They had a great sale at myer so I spent a bit. Got a new handbag, a beach towel, and a cafe press... All were good or awesome discounts!
Course we bought all we could carry and never got to any other stores!
Went to see Sherlock Holmes 2 on Sunday with Jacinta. It wasn't as good as the first one, but I enjoyed it and we had fun.
This week is a full 5 day week at work, which after 2 short weeks is kind of a struggle. But I'm trying to get sleep. I'm also eating better now that the holiday period is over. But mum and Nikki are going away next week, so well see how I go then.
Wish me sleep!

Almost Over
Getting one post in for December, before we head into 2012 next week.
I've been so busy the past month with work, Christmas shopping, Christmas movie/tv episode watching and then all the parties that come along with December.
We had a few morning teas at work for birthdays. Too much food as always, but they're lots of fun, its good to chat at work. Then we had our work Christmas party which was held after work at the Monash Civic Centre from 5pm. I went along with my boss and the girls. We had a few drinks and stood around while all the boring stuff went on, then the DJ and the karaoke started. Jess and I decided to do Karaoke together, we ended up singing Manic Monday -I thought we were pretty good. Then we did a lot of dancing. I wasn't drinking much cause I had to drive home, but I still had a blast. I was doing all the dances with actions such as the Macarena, Nutbush and Timewarp. There was a little more karaoke, till the party started wrapping up just after 10, and I left about 20 past, as did Jess and Deepa. I was pretty sore the next morning from all the dancing.
On the Saturday night I drove all the way over to the other side of the city, to visit Brett and Sarah's place for our group Christmas party. I wasn't going to, but I ended up taking citylink, cause it was easier. But I tell ya, its far far away out there in the west! I'm such an inner eastern and southern girl. But it was fun, everyone was there, and we did presents and Brett and Sarah put on good food, and there was good dessert. I must also add that Melbourne does look awfully pretty all lit up and spread out when you're coming back across the West Gate Bridge.
The Monday at work we had another morning tea for birthdays. Wednesday my department had our Christmas lunch at Pescare in Century City. It was fun and went for a few hours.
Friday we got coffee and cakes given to us...so that was a bonus too!
I spent Saturday shopping for food, and wrapping my presents. I watched the Carols by Candlelight. Which was lots of fun for me cause it had all my fave theatre people, like Amy Lehpalmer from Rock of Ages and Lucy Durack! Plus plenty of other good people.
Christmas Day, Dad and Scott came over for breakfast and pressies which was nice. Mum had to go pick up Grandma and take her to Neil's. Nicole and Scott went with Dad to Terry's. I was stuck taking all the food and drinks to Neil's. It was really hot, so I was packing stuff in cold bags with icepacks. I got there right on 1:30pm, and we ate pretty much straight away. I was stuff full of good food. Then I ate plenty of the choc ripple cake I made. Nikki and Scott turned up and we hung around till around 4pm. Then headed home. I took the food again, and Nikki.
Overall Christmas was okay, got a few nice pressies, including a new ipod to replace my old dying one. That night Mum and I watched a movie, and were glad we were not driving around in the crazy wet weather.
But it was really weird not having a full on day for the first time in my whole life. I miss the 2 big family things. I miss the cousins I never get to see anymore.
Boxing Day I wanted to go to the sales, but I only went to Camberwell. I bought a few dvds and cds. But nothing big. Mum bought herself a new laptop since their computer broke.
Tuesday I spent all day trying to put stuff on my ipod. I'm still only just getting through the soundtracks...which is only half my music collection.
Wednesday was back to work. So hard to get motivated this week. But I think we got a fair bit done.
SO glad to have another long weekend though, even if I don't get paid. But I think next week is going to tough...hah.
New Years Eve tomorrow, gonna have fun with my friends.
Bring on 2012. 2011 wasn't bad, it was hard to beat 2010 with my awesome USA trip, but I guess having a job for the 2nd half of the year might just top that....maybe a tie.
Lets hope for both in 2012!

Birthday Weekend
So I had a great birthday weekend. It started on Saturday with a shopping trip with Jacinta...we were planning on shopping at Chadstone, but the car park was SO crazy that it wasn't worth it, and we headed to Camberwell instead. I bought myself a pressie of cds from JB and Christmas lights from Target. After we had finished our spending, we sheltered from the never ending rain/storm that was going ALL day, at my house with assorted episodes of Saturday Night Live.
Sunday, Mum and I went out for Brunch in Mailing Road in Canterbury. Then to Camberwell again for more shopping, followed by a relaxing evening...I was exhausted by the late afternoon!
Monday was the big day, my actual birthday. Work put on a big spread, of morning tea, plus they decorated my desk with banners and balloon in bright shiny colors! The morning tea was nuts! Two tables full of food, and they sang and made me blow out candles. It was fun. -Its nice that they get really excited about birthdays.
After work I met up with Ness and Brett and after some food and yummy milkshakes from The Pancake Parlour, we went to see Moneyball. It was really good. Not for everyone, but I definitely could appreciate it.
Over all it was a good birthday. Everyone wished me well and I got some good pressies, and I had fun, who can ask for more than that?!
-Also...so far 26 is better than 25. lol.

Dolly Day!!!!
Tuesday night mum and I went to see Dolly Parton in concert at Rod Laver in the city. Firstly there were so many older people there, I felt quite young. Although there were a few kids there. She was really good, very chatty and lovely. She sang a bunch of songs I didn't know, and a few ones I knew in the 1st half. We had good seats head on so no neck problems. But I swear I had to stop comparing her to Kristin Chenoweth. Every now and then she'd sound just like her! I think the pink cowgirl dress that looked very Kristin in Glee didn't help...
In the 2nd half she started out, then after 1 song got taken off stage cause her mic battery was dying. So the band entertained us for a bit....apparently the battery is in her hair, do the had to fix that. Then she came back, and sang some of my faves, including Coat of Many Colors, Here you come again and 9 to 5! Then she encored with I Will Always Love You, and it was over.
We got home around 11pm.
I tell ya, there's nothing like a live show! I'll have to go buy her best of Album now. I've been listening to the 9 to 5 cast recording all week!
